Dear Friends: On behalf of the 100 Black Men of Louisville and its Board of Directors; I welcome you and thank you for visiting our website. The 100 Black Men of Louisville recognizes that there are many challenges facing African-American communities and Metro Louisville. Our mission is to improve the quality of life within our communities and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all African Americans. We are committed to the intellectual development of youth and the economic empowerment of the African American community based on the following precepts: respect for family, spirituality, justice, and integrity. We seek to serve as a beacon of leadership by utilizing our diverse talents to create environments where our children are motivated to achieve, and to empower our people to become self-sufficient shareholders in the economic and social fabric of the communities we serve. The 100 Black Men of Louisville gladly accepts the numerous challenges that lie before us. The membership will selflessly share our time, energy, and resources as we strive to be positive role models and contribute to the community’s leadership. We seek to work collaboratively with others organizations in improving the lives of our young people and their families. Mentoring is the cornerstone of what this organization brings to the community by guiding youth in life experiences, fostering a positive self-perception and self-respect, encouraging excellence in education, and the pursuit of positive life-long goals Mentoring the 100 Way is one of the signature programs of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. This holistic program addresses the social, emotional and cultural needs of our youth. Through chapter operated one-on-one and group mentoring efforts, our members forge relationships that positively impact our greatest resource. The National Organization of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc., defines mentoring as an individual, personal relationship that is characterized by relevant and focused involvement conducted over a prolonged period of time between a youth and his/her mentor, which provides consistent support, guidance and target activities as the youth grows and mature and to help their respective mentee develop skills and confidence to be responsible for their choices. This chapter seeks to improve the Health/Wellness, Economic development, Education and Mentoring opportunities of the young men of our communities because we truly believe in “Real Men Giving Real Time”. Sincerely, Robert “Rob” Jordan Sr., President |
